Editing
My Personal Editing Experience
As a first-time editor for The Muse, I have encountered amazing, yet stressful artifacts. Handling a team of 4 may seem like a big hassle, but it actually came quite easy. I made sure I had a certain approach: be kind, respectful, relatable, and fun. The most important part is to be relatable. This helps my team understand me and helps me understand them. Being relatable also means being observant. I know what they like and what they don't and I know when to give them space. One of the best editing techniques I like to do is to read the full story and find grammar mistakes, then go back and make advising edits. Grammar edits are one of the biggest edits an editor makes. As a CTE, many of the other edits are already taken care of by the coverage editor. However, I still love to read how raw a story can be and how passionate one is about it.

Editing takes a lot of understanding and creativity. Working with a group of editors is a great way to express my thoughts and opinions. As someone who likes to take time and energy on work, becoming an editor was the best thing to happen to me. I would still like to learn and grow as an editor and as a person with the help and support of my staff.
